    Hi,

Does anyone have a recommendation for an organization that I can donate old curriculum to that will then give it to homeschool families in the armed services?

    Thanks,

    Cindy

Wish I did as I have a stack of stuff to donate right now – and the only option I have found is the usual charities like Salvation Army and Goodwill.  If anyone knows I would love to know as well.  Linda

There is a great place called “The Book Samaritan” here is there information from their site..

”  How to help We believe in homeschooling!

Our ministry began with an admiration for those who homeschool and a recognition that far too many homeschooling families struggle to buy the curriculum and books they need.

The Book Samaritan is a not-for-profit Christian organization that provides free books and curriculum to homeschoolers with financial constraints. We offer a wide variety of well-known homeschooling materials and ship all items free-of-charge.

In return, we ask only that when the recipient is finished, they pass along the material to another homeschooling family for free or return the items to The Book Samaritan for redistribution.

Our headquarters is a historic two-story home in Oklahoma. We pay no rent, no utilities and are staffed solely by volunteers. We want every resource we have to go directly into providing books and curriculum to homeschooling families that need them.

Our organization relies on book, curriculum and money donations to build and distribute our library of available materials.100% of all cash donations are used to buy books and curriculum.

All shipping expenses are donated by our local church

The Book Samaritan is here to help take the stress out of buying books and curriculum so homeschoolers can get down to the business of educating their children!

The Book Samaritan needs your support. Many homeschooling households have books and curriculum that are not being used.We understand it’s tempting—and sometimes financially necessary—to resell old books and curriculum you no longer need. However, we humbly ask that you consider an occasional donation to The Book Samaritan. We will waste no time or money redistributing your donation to another homeschooler who needs it! Thank you for your support.

    How to help:

    * Book donations: We accept any used books, workbooks, flash cards, kits, DVDs, CD-ROMS, and school supplies. They will be catalogued for immediate redistribution.

    * Cash donations: Be assured that 100% of all contributions will be used to purchase much-needed curriculum.

*Books, curriculum, cash contributions and postage are all tax deductible gifts.

    * Please pray for our continued efforts to reach out to homeschooling families through this ministry.  “

    Please forward donations to:

Please send it to the Book Samaritan!   They have provided my family with a lot of things we have needed so that we can homeschool.  They really are blessing a lot of families.

Our area has a homeschool lending library that accepts donations. If you have one locally, that’s an option.

most base libraries also have a “homeschooling” section you could donate directly to the base if you have access to one nearby.
