Hi there, I am in need of some direction. This will be our 4th year of homeschooling (including kindergarten). We have used a CM approach from the beginning. The past two years we have been using LindaFay’s work called HUFI. We just finished Year 2 and should be moving on to Year 3…However, I need to simplify my life for a number of reasons this year. I have a 9 year old and an almost 8 year old who both read relatively well. I have a 5 year old boy who needs some one on one with mommy..and we are adopting a boy from Africa this fall or winter, who will be 6. We are planning on taking a long break when our new guy comes to join us, but until that time, we are ready to go.
We just finished American History up through the Revolutionary War and World History up through 1600 AD. I was considering using SCM Early-Modern Epistles, however there are quite a few books that we have already read, or quite a few people we have already covered…How should I do this?
Why not take a break from organized history studies and do a family style unit study of Africa before your new son arrives? You could keep copywork, reading, and math going with whatever you choose. Maybe learn about African geography, art, music, food. Just some thoughts.
