I know this was mentioned recently but I cannot find the post.
Where are the sample schedules on the website? There used to be a page showing light days, multiple students, etc… I loved these examples. Am I overlooking them with the revamp of the site? My old bookmark is not working.
Please forgive the duplicate post but the forum search is not helping me locate the post and we cannot go back past page 3.
I don’t see them, either. I remember they were part of the planning pages under either the Getting Started menu or under the Our Curriculum menu. In either case, things look a little different, so maybe someone who saved a copy of those samples will be able to forward them to you.
You’re not overlooking them, Jamie. Those schedules were replaced with the samples on the lesson plan book pages and on the SCM Curriculum page. As I’ve studied and learned more over the years, I feel that those schedules are nearer to a true CM plan than the others were, so we opted to replace them. As Sue mentioned, I hope someone can forward them to you. Or if there is a specific one you want to see, I can ask Doug if he has a super secret way to dig through the archives and find it so I can get a screen shot for you.
Oh yes, oh yes, I would LOVE to have the 4 day schedule as well and haven’t had any of my pleas answered, lol!!!! I work out of the home one day a week and really need a guide on what I should cover in 4 days!!!!!
While we do not do a 4-day schedule, we do have a lighter day on day 5.
I simply make a schedule with daily and enrichment. Daily are things like history, language arts, math (science is three days/week) and then enrichment subjects I divided among the days for example Monday is Picture Study, Tuesday is Poetry, Wednesday is Music study, Monday & Wednesday are hymn…
If you are using the History guides from SCM they are planned out with history being 4 days/week with a fifth day being geography. So you can either simply do the next day of the guide or if you have a certain time you want to try to complete the guide by you could do history 4 days/week and the geography lesson on one of those days along with the history lesson (similar to spreading out the enrichment subjects).
It depends if the 5th day is still being considered a day of school, or if it is a day “off”. If it is a day of school you might simply have to reevaluate your expectations for finishing curriculum so that you don’t try to cram 5 days into 4 days. Most curriculum you don’t “have” to finish, and many times people don’t. We never finish math, but it works great because we continue into the summer and it makes for a very smooth transition into the next level because they haven’t forgotten everything over the summer 🙂
