I thought I signed up for the free 30 day trial for the Organizer. However, all I see is the Book Finder, with no way to add a book to my Organizer. I am at a loss here! Can anyone help?
When you click here it will only show the Bookfinder. You need to login to your account on this page to show the rest of the tabs. There you will see multiple tabs, one which says “Scheduler”. Here is where you add all of your resources so that you can schedule them. You will find “add resources” in the text on the page that comes up when you click on Scheduler. It is in regular font in blue. Let me know if you need more help:)
Thanks, Marcee. I am logged in, but it’s not showing the blue tabs. Funny part is, I can’t even find a place to purchase the Organizer, never mind the 30-day free trial! It says Welcome Clouth! at the top of this page, and it just says “logout” at the top right of the Book Finder page… I must still be missing something. 🙂
I am in my learning curb too :o) in fact I made it to almost the end of my free trial and had decided I didn’t think I liked it……then I remembered that I’ve been looking for an organizer for over a year and nothing offers the flexibility that SCM does. So I rewatched all of the videos and started playing around adding students and resources. Now after some trial and error I’ve figured it out!
I have our whole summers worth of assignments entered, and last week was our first to actually work off of the daily plan, it was great! Last night I made my first report, just because I was curious-not because I really needed too and it was amazing!!!! A whole weeks worth of records, by subject with each student’s work recorded by day and reporting either worked on or finished. I had thought last week was a pretty light week but seeing our report I could’t believe how much we had accomplished. SUCH a rewarding feeling!
So anyway….just wanted to share :o) I’ll be sending in my check for our years subscription tomorrow. And if any of you are feeling overwhelmed, I’d encourage you to watch all the videos several times and keep trying, sure glad I did.
Yes, you can add students. You need to go over to where it asks you to login on the top right hand side. Click on Account and then you can add your students.
I think I’m going to have to watch all the videos because I certainly don’t find the organizer user friendly. I’ve really had to search around and learn by error on how to use it. I also wish the “weekly view” which is actually called expanded was a tab option or similar. You have to click on the Daily Plan tab and then click on Expand. However, if the current day is a weekend and you don’t school on Saturday or Sunday-you have to click on “Not scheduled for today” and then expand. If it’s Saturday, I haven’t even been able to get to the upcoming week because I can’t see what’s on the plan for Monday. It only allows me to see the next day which would be Sunday.
I have yet to figure out how to see my previous week. Especially since I forgot to mark some assignments complete. Anyone?
I’m also trying the basic free version of H’school Tracker. Not sure if the paid version is different, but I’m finding the free version a bit overwhelming.
Marcee – as you mentioned, you can only see today and tomorrow for the Daily Plan.
However, you can see assignments that aren’t assigned for today by clicking on the “Show assignments not scheduled for today” as you also said that you have found. To mark off assignments you didn’t do, when you find the book/resource you need to mark off, beside the spot that you would click on to mark it off, there is a little arrow. Click on that, and it gives you a place to mark it off for the last 7 days… and also a little calendar icon to add in a date even further back so you can mark it off at any past date.
I used the free version of Hschool Tracker, and it was a pain if we didn’t do the assignments for a day… they did have a method to push the assignments back, but it was a pain. And the paid version of Hschool Tracker is totally different from the free version. (it is a lot more powerful (from what I’ve read on it) but even MORE complicated too.)
Yes, there is a bit of a learning curve for the organizer… but I didn’t find it that bad compared to other programs. I find it fairly easy to use – wonderful when you don’t complete things when originally planned, etc. And although it is setup for a certain way of doing things (which works well) – those of us with a few different requirements have found ways to do things.
Thanks Suzikimom! And thanks for letting me know how to go back and mark assignments:) I went in and tried your suggestion, but it only allows me to complete one day of the previous week. The other days will allow me to fill in only part of the cirle (indicating it was worked on). Therefore, when I try to run my report for last week, it will not show the subjects as completed. Is there work around for this? In regards to H’school Tracker-I def. don’t need anything that will cause my brain to seize up I’ll be moving that off my plate.
I just signed up for my 30 day free trial so I do have some time to play around and get the feel of it. I’m going to make time to watch all the videos too.
You can work on an assignment as many times as you like, but it can only be finished once… then it will give you a button to go to the next assignment.
Take, for example a Math lesson. You can work on the lesson over various days… but when it was finished, it is done. So then, the student would be working on the next math lesson… If you don’t have the expander open to let you mark off various days it will just automatically bring up the next lesson. If you have the expander opten to let you mark off various days, the program thinks you may want to mark other days as worked on, or otherwise edit it… so you need to click a button to move on to the next lesson to mark it.
Now – if you are trying to mark off something like a Violin practice or something like that… well there are various ways people record those… Either making a resource with a lot of divisions so you can mark the divisions as done… or have no divisions and just mark it always as Worked On (because really, you never “finish” practicing…) What I do is have a resource with 12 divisions – with the divisions named the same as the months. So I mark the daily practice as “worked on”… and the last practice of the month is marked “finished”. Then if I need to mark practices in the past, I don’t get a huge number of dates show up when I expand to mark past work….
Go into your Daily Plan. Because it’s Sunday you will have to choose See Tomorrow’s Plan. This will show you what you have scheduled for May 23rd. Scroll down past all the items you have scheduled for the 23rd and you will see Not Scheduled for Today in green. If you click on this, it will show you the subjects that are not scheduled for Monday’s or for 5/23.
For the weekley view be in Daily Plan. (Since it’s Sunday, you will need to click See Tomorrow’s Plan). Once you are on Monday’s Plan, you can click on Expand Everything at the top. It will show you all of your resources scheduled for the week.
Hope this makes sense. I went and watched all the videos and it helped tremendously.
The videos are so helpful! I think that after watching them things should be a little smoother. =) This is not a “regular” planner and grade keeper. It helps to think of it that way. =) And, once you do have your stuff in, you will be amazed at how much easier it is to keep on track of what you are actually doing. I had the same kind of initial frustrations at getting it all in, but it was so worth it for me.
