Can anyone tell me some good places to hunt for art prints online? (Like to download or look at on the screen for free – not to buy.) Right now I’m hunting for prints of the different paintngs featured in the Katie books by James Mayhew (from the Early Years list for 5 yos).
If you join the Ambleside group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AOArtPrints/ they have loads of wonderful prints, this is what I have used. I just print off the ones I like or we look at them on the computer. The art is mostly the famous classical artists and is listed under each artist – you may want to vet some of them, though they are usually lovely pieces of work. Anyway, that is what we do. Hope this helps. Linda
Here are some resources that I use. I do picture study as described by Lindafay at Charlotte Mason help. I print them as 4×6 prints for each kid and they have their own album of what we’ve studied. I also use as my desktop background.
Thanks ladies – I will check out those links. Christie, I think you must have posted about how you do artist study before because that was just exactly what I was planning to do – make a little book of 4×6 prints of all the artists we studied. We are starting school again next week after about 6 weeks off and planning to do artist study for the first time. Art is something that I’ve never been really excited about myself, but I am hoping that starting with the Katie books and the paintings featured in them will intrigue DD, and then we can explore further any artists that interest us.
