I am really interested in Little Giant Steps Rapid Recall for learning facts but it is pretty expensive. I’d like to buy the whole kit but it is $150. I mainly need multiplication and division right now though so I’d be happy with those. I have searched and can’t seem to find it used anywhere. Any ideas?
I understand; it is pretty expensive. I am not really aware of any place you might find it used, unless you look on Homeschool Classifieds. One option you might consider, however, is something that missceegee and I have done. We took the books apart and put each page in a plastic page protector, then placed them in binders. The kids used dry erase markers for the written portion of the program. Also, if you have iTunes on your computer, you can pop the audio CD into your computer and download it to iTunes. This means the CD will have never been used. The point of all of this is to recuperate some of the high cost down the road when the kids no longer need the program and it can be sold used. I have invested in some good binders and of course a lot of time spent putting the individual pages of four workbooks into page protectors and binders, and I probably won’t sell my RR for less than $100 when the time comes. In the short term, I’m eating the cost of the RR plus the binders and page protectors, but in the long term, I’ll get at least some of that back when I no longer need the materials. And, if nothing else, I’ll save these valuable books for my grandchildren!
Plus, it’s an excellent investment into my children’s future in math. If they can’t get their facts, they won’t get much else, so….what other choice do I have except to bite the bullet and fork out the money needed? In years past, we weren’t always able to afford our books, so I sent e-mails to grandparents asking for help. They were always happy to invest in their grandchildrens’ educations. I simply sent the title of the book with a link to the lowest price I could find, they would order and have it shipped directly to us. Perhaps you have grandparents who would be willing and able to help you out with the cost of the RR materials?
Hope you find what you’re looking for!
Lindsey
