We just put a check in the box. Most of their lessons are “do the next thing”. For independent reading, they have a suggested booklist and usually read a chapter a day. Copywork will mostly be hymns, poems, or Bible verses that we come across in our studies.
I also made a “Year at a Glance” schedule of topics and lessons we’ll cover each week. There are more specific plans here, but they aren’t super-detailed either. I left a blank spot to write down which math and spelling lessons they will complete each week, since these are more difficult to plan ahead. For state records, we just need a calender of hours we school, so I don’t need extrememly detailed records. I had very general lesson plans last year and it worked very well for us.
HollyS, thanks so much for the post to the yearly schedule. I do need to keep detailed records (according to our evaluator), so I’m thinking I could use your model as a log if I make the boxes big enough.
I know I copied it from somebody, but I couldn’t remember where I’d found it. The Year-at-a-Glance schedule was on a HS blog, but I can’t seem to find it either! I need to use Pinterest more often!!
