When you are choosing which books for your child to read, particularly dealing with history, do you choose only non-fiction or do you let them read fiction, as well? I am having a hard time coming up with strictly n-f books about Rome that aren’t just regurgitated facts.

Oh my, some of the best history books are fiction. Depending on the age of your children, The Bronze Bow!

Ok, so it isn’t ‘twaddle’ if it isn’t real, then? I was thinking that it all had to be true for it to be considered worthy of our time. LOL

This will make things easier! 😀

If it’s historical fiction writtten well-under the CM criteria andliterary criteria-then it is not twaddle.

Now, there is HF twaddle, but most of those are the newer materials (post 1950’s, IMO).

Do you have the info. to what makes a book a “living book”? That way you can judge a book one way or the other-whether it’s hf or nf.

We do a combination of the two.
