I found one for $14.50 at a thrift store. I can’t remember if it’s the Occident or the Orient. I have trouble paying more than $4 for a book but I know this one is a little harder to find.
I have found two copies of The Complete Book of Marvels with both the Occident and the Orient included for $25-30 each. I would have paid a good bit more as these are great, IMO.
I guess I’ll go back and get it. I guess I am so used to searching for cheap books that I have a hard time spending that much for one, especially at a thrift store!
I found a Complete for a quarter but paid $40 and $33 for my other two copies. There are some books that are just worth it. I have some special high dollar books on my shelves.
If I find a cheap one somewhere guess I can resell this one. It’s the Occident. Too bad it’s not a complete, but I still have a couple of years before we need it so maybe I’ll find that one or the Orient somewhere.
Just for fun, I thought I’d share what I paid for my hardback copy of The Complete Marvels: Nothing!
Don’t hate me! It was on the “free” table in the back of my library where they sell the used books. It does look used, but the binding is in great condition!
I started to mention The Chestry Oak, Christie, but didn’t want to be stoned. 😉 I have three copies and paid $50 for two of them. The other one I got in an eBay lot that included all of Kate Seredy’s books. They came to about $12 each, I think. I paid $150 for a beautiful copy of Andy and the Circus. That one hurt bad but it was the only FIAR I didn’t have. I think there is only one title I own that I paid more for, the most rare Landmark. I go without many things to have the books I want. All my clothes look pathetic.
But yes, caedmyn, you will have no trouble selling it. It’s called for in AO, of course, and is just a wonderful book.
