The title says it all but I am on the hunt for living math books kind of like a textbook or guide to follow. I am thinking of buying math on the level but the price tag is making me ill. 🙂 Anyone use MOTL who can tell me if they like it or if there is something similar but cheaper. I have seen the livingmath site but I am looking for a curriculum or guide and I don’t want to to math with history like what they have on their site. I love my module 1 history. Hope I worded that correctly.
This site has some of my favorite children’s literature books that can be used for teaching math. I know it’s not quite what you are looking for, though. I’ll be interested to see what others say, as well.
These look very user friendly and simple to implement, sort of a math encyclopedia/dictionary/how-to manual. There are several in the series and might be worth checking out.
Mystika 1 – I love when this post pops up near the top again – not because I am overly interested with the answer, but because your spelling mistake in the title makes me invision you speaking with a thick Brooklyn accent!
Math-U-See (mathusee.com). Simply the BEST! The lessons are short, with only one page per day, and VERY easy to understand. I like how it is multi-sensory and builds concept upon concept. This section http://www.mathusee.com/homeschool.php focuses on why Math-U-See is perfect for the Charlotte Mason approach.
MUS is also rather inexpensive, especially since you only have to purchase the blocks once, and you can reuse the teacher’s manual and DVDs. Because we have more than one child, I only have to replace the work books each year. They are also quite sought after as used books and so you can get quite a bit of money back when you are finished with them. VERY economical!
I hope that helps!
