Mysterious Lady in Pink and crazy4boys- My oldest is 7 so we have a while to go with attention spans but it’s funny you commented on how “fast” crazy4boys schedule appears.  Sometimes I feel like our day is choppy trying to jump from one subject to another.  I sometimes wonder if we should be lingering more.  But when I think about it with a 7 yo and 5.5 yo we are moving at their speed and I usually do have their best attention.  The thing that usually stumps me is that I sometimes feel like I’m giving them shorter attention spans with shorter lessons!  Or I feel like we’ll be doing this “insert subject” forever at the pace we’re going.

mrsmccardell – I think it balances out over time.  Some of our work takes 30 minutes, some takes 5 or 10.  As they get older the lessons slowly get longer and pretty soon they’re doing 45 minutes of work in a subject and don’t feel like it’s a struggle.  Like you mentioned, when they’re younger having their best attention is so important!  I have OFTEN thought it’s going to take us forever to get this thing done, then one day I pick it up and realize we only have 5 pages left and I’m all, “When did that happen?”
