I am wondering if you all can give me an idea of what you use for High School Science. I do not want to use Apologia, and I feel the selections for Creation based upper level science are limited.
I used a variety of things with my son but was not thrilled with any of them. I’ve got 2 years before we get there with my daughter so I’ve been looking around a bit. On the Ambleside Online forums, there are several threads about this topic. There are a handful of CM bloggers who have come up with their own plan using living books and the courses look great-though maybe a bit expensive. I’ll try to find some links for you.
A friend of mine used Shepherd’s biology and she liked that a lot more than Apologia but they haven’t come out with any higher levels of science yet.
My oldest is just 9th this year but what we are trying is Dive science with living books in place of all their readings and labs through Landry ACademy in the spring.
We use ACE, the Paces and lab DVDs. Sometimes I have them do the worksheets in the Paces and other times I have them do written narration instead. You can buy lab specimens and equipment for the labs, but it is optional.
It is Christian, reasonably priced, and works for our family.
I like the 101 DVDs. This year my daughter is using chemistry 101, and will use biology 101 next year followed by physics 101. My dd was impressed with the video quality and the information contained within the DVDs is informative and just the right amount to not be overwhelming but to give a solid understanding of chemistry.
We have used mostly Apologia. My high school kids have begun doing their science through our co-op and that’s what is being used. Science is the one subject that I have chosen to mostly out-source since I just can’t keep up with everything!!
However, the co-op science didn’t mesh with my 10th grader’s schedule, so I have set up an anatomy course for him using “Body By Design” from Master Books. I cannot imagine that the body book could be considered a complete high school science class, but we’re adding in some other books, including “The History of Medicine” by Tiner. It looks interesting to me. It may work out to be more than a one semester course, but I doubt if it will fill up the year. After that, I’m looking at having him do the Physics book by Tiner.
I tried to copy and paste links to some good suggestions for CM high school science but couldn’t get them to paste so here are the names of some web sites.

You’ll have to find their high school science pages from their main pages. They both make some great points and use some wonderful books.
