  • Bookworm says it so much better than I ever could re: Austen. Besides, what’s wrong with reading about love? It makes the world go round ya know ;).

Could you tell me a little about the Mary heart…. – I saw it at the library and almost picked it up but want to finish Grace-Based Parenting by Tim Kimmel first. Heartily recommend that one.

BTW, also reading a bio on Lousia May Alcott, which I may not finish – I’ve only just started but its rather disturbing. And I was reading a book by Cesar Millan on how to train my dog – ha! Good advice, though, especially since I have never had a dog until now! I tried reading The Grey King (dont’ know author) which was a Newberry award winner, but it was really lame so I stopped. I could really use a new book….

Thank you Bookworm; your run-dwon helps me. From recent readings, I came across the social commentary part which is why I started to consider her, whereas before I had not. I just didn’t know how much of the books were the thought provoking material and how much was “romantic” in nature.

The Bronte books were favorites of mine growing up.

This thread makes for a great booklist. Fun.

I just finished Sense and Sensibilty.

Reading Mission to Heal by Glenn Geelhoed.  This is my husband’s uncle.  He is a doctor that has been able to go to remote places and give surgery to people in need.  He is able to work in tough situations(i.e. no electric) and was called upon from Washington to work in the hospital during the aftermath of Katrina  with little resources.

Winnie-the-Pooh just because it is such a fun book. I like to have something easier to read sometimes.

1000 Gifts  — I am enjoying the author’s journey in making her list of 1000 gifts.

Swiss Family Robinson because I am leading a book discussion with my youngest and some of his friends.

    Happy Reading,

    Britney,

I found the Bible reading plan here: http://www.esv.org/assets/pdfs/rp.esv.study.bible.pdf .  It is bookmarks that you print out and cut apart (and I laminated, because I got a laminator for Christmas!  yay!)  I truly have loved this way of reading through the Bible.  I have read through the Bible in a year starting in Genesis and going straight through before and it was more of a struggle.  This way, it’s shorter passages so it holds my interest.  It’s also nice because I can break it up throughout the day if I need to – maybe Genesis and Chronicles in the morning, Psalms at rest time, NT before bed.  And my eyes have been opened so much to seeing themes run throughout the entire Bible – sometimes I’ll read something in the OT and then read something related in the NT and lightbulbs go on!  Anyway, I hope the link helps!
    God bless,

    Erin
