Just wondering what age is still considered pre school. My daughter will be turning 6 🙁 this Thursday and just wondered when i should be starting formal school with her?

Charlotte started formal school at 6.

Based on RobinP’s info.  If you’re going to follow a typical school schedule, then wait ’til fall.  I started my 2 youngest the fall after they turned 6.  (They were summer babies, though.)  If she’s really wanting to “do school,” then you can still start w/ a few things now but wait for most of it.

Just a thought.  You could still start now, but it would depend on your family’s schedule.

My daughter turns six on Wednesday. 🙂  We started “Kindergarten” for the purposes of reporting to the state last fall. However we just continued with what we had been doing previously- following her interest level in learning letter sounds, number games, etc. but no formal sit at the table and work on lessons “school”. We will begin more formal lessons  (1st grade) on a daily basis in the fall when she is 6.5yo. I also have a son who just turned 5 who’s interest level in learning letters and pre-reading skill is not there like it is with her. He will begin Kindegarten for reporting purposes in the fall and I will continue to follow his lead while providing learning opportunities for him. He will begin 1st grade with daily structured lessons when he is 6.5 also.
