    Hi,

We’re going to finish up Paddle-to-the-Sea tonight and we leave for vacation in 10 days.  What can you mamas rec’d for our 4 and 5 yo kids?

The kids have absolutely loved PTTS 🙂

    Thanks!

I’ve heard good things about Burgess Seashore Book for Children

I Saw the Sea Come In – Alvin Tresselt

Houses from the Sea – Alice Goudey

The Seashore Book – Charlotte Zolotow ill. by Wendall Minor

Time of Wonder – Robert McCloskey

All 4 of these books provide great visualization of what the seashore is like. My children have not seen the ocean and yet they love to imagine just what it will be like by reading these books. 🙂

The small, pocket-size Golden Guide entitled “Seashore Life” might be fun for them to take along for identifying things. “Shorebirds” (Peterson Field Guides: Young Naturalists) might be useful, too.

You could also stay with Holling C. Holling and read Pagoo, all about the life of a hermit crab.
