SO I have a friend who is considering HSing this fall. (Little ones) I just did my first CM year…..and I’m not sure where to even start to try to explain why I LOVE ALL THINGS SCM! This is not a friend I see often at all. Nor have we talked much about why I love HSing…..she probably thinks it’s just like recreating school, but at home. Can U guys think of an article that includes, who Charlotte Mason is and the basics of the method. I don’t want to send her multiple links. Just hoping for an overview.
I jus tlooked up the blog series about getting started, and taht wasn’t right. I need something BEFORE that. To sum it up with a who she is kinda thing. Without knowing who she is, reading about some random lady’s methods is kinda ‘out there.’
Is it possible to invite her over for coffee and get to know her better, show her some of the things you do, pull up SCM and give her a tour of the site? It is hard to express all your enthusiasm in an email, and through articles. She may appreciate spending time talking with a homeschool mom, and she’ll have a better vision of what her homeschool could look like.
I was just going to suggest that same video of the 5 main styles of homeschooling that Sonya does. I’ve shared that with friends for the exact situation as you’re in now, and they found it super informative and really clear and helpful!
The video is a great quick way for her to be introduced to the different methods of HS. It could potentially save you a ton of time if she is wired for a different type of HS. 😉
Then if she is interested in CM, The CM Companion is a wonderful book to teach her in more detail.
