  • So we are moving back to the US next month. There will be many costs involved one or rather two being a washer and dryer. We will buy new.

I want to save water and energy, but I also want clean clothes. I have 5 dirty kids who I have to make come inside! Suggestions please.

I have a Kenmore front loader HE machine and matching dryer.  After years in Europe I could not handle the top loaders that are so common here, and I did not like not having a sanitary wash program, so we splurged and have not been sorry.  Our machines are now 6 years old and we have had no issues with them.  They are bulky and big but do a fantastic job, and I know that the undies and sheets and towels are really clean.  They are much more efficient in water usage and are energy star efficient, so all in all I have no complaints.  If we ever need to replace them, I would likely go with a Bosch next time – I had them in Europe and loved them.  But I would always go for the HE front loaders and dryers with lots of options – especially as in my neighborhood we are not allowed to dry washing outside :((( so it is important to me.  I think they are worth the extra money.  If I could not afford both, I would buy the front loader HE washer, and add a regular dryer to it to economise.  Good luck with the move back – are you excited?  Linda
