Warms the heart!

I had a “warms the heart” moment today, just thought I’d share.  I have been seeing many posts about attitude and working on conduct and character and decided that my son (9yo) and I needed to make that a priority too.  So the past few weeks we have been working on kindness.  We’d recite what the definition is and read a story about it every few days, I’d point out ways throughout the day for him to be kind and helpful.  Today we were heading to the library and, out of the blue, he grabbed the library bag (which was really heavy) and stumbled out to the car.  I said I would get it but he said “no, he would do it”.  Then when I got to the car he’s yelling “wait, wait”, so I wait and he opens the door for me.  And then again at the library as soon as the car stops he jumps out and opens my door for me.  So I have to ask, ” What is going on with you?”.  And he says ” I’m being kind.  Isn’t a gentleman supposed to open the door for a lady and help with carrying stuff?”.  Such a wonderful moment!  He’s getting it, it’s sinking in, high five for Mom!
