We are looking to buy 3 full sized classical acoustic guitars for our kids that are going to start taking lessons. I’ve found some possibilities on Amazon in the $60 range.  Anyone have any experience/advice to share in this area?

Musical instruments bring an interesting and difficult choice.

If you go cheap then the quality of the instrument is low and it’s much more difficult to play. It can cause such a frustrating experience that it can turn a child away from ever having any interest in it again.

On the other hand, you don’t want to spend too much for fear that the child might not stick with it.

In my opinion it would be much better to take turns with a single $200 to $300 guitar than try to get by with three frustrating $60 guitars. You might also look into borrowing or renting instruments to see how it goes before fully diving in.

Thanks, Doug! Good points and an interesting angle for me to consider! I’m praying that God will lead us to just the right instrument/timing/price! I believe He will! 🙂
