Hello all, I’ve never written on SCM’s blog but have been attempting a CM style bi-lingual homeschool co-op in Indonesia with our Indonesian teammates.  It’s been good & challenging & fun too as I find CM treasures in another language/culture. :)As I consider the verses packs/way of Bible memorization I’m wondering with all the focus on narrating/telling the story back in CM why individual verses are encouraged as the way of memorizing Scripture vs. memorizing stories? Seems like it would a more natural flow of “telling the story back” from Scripture…thoughts?

    Hi, Elissa –

It is good to memorize entire passages and stories, yes! Charlotte’s students often memorized an entire psalm or a parable. The verse card packs contain a variety: some individual verses, some short passages, and some entire psalms or parables.

We’ve used the same method of memorizing regardless of the length of the Scripture we’re working on. Feel free to select the verses/passages that you prefer for your children. The verse packs are just a starting point if you want one. 🙂
