Hello all. A few years back I hosted a Valentine’s exchange and it was really fun! I am hoping to set something similar up this year and need at least 6 families who are also interested. Let me know what you think. This is how it would work:
1 – You and your kids make something that represents your city or state in some way. This can be as simple or complex as you want to make it. Just DON”T make it stressful. This is supposed to be fun : ) Some examples in the past included – a photo of something that represents the area, coloring page with the state bird / flower / or flag, a short survey filled in for your state (such as state flower, state capital, state bird, etc), an essay about the benefits of living in your area. These are just examples. The possibilities are endless and can be simple. You then make enough copies for the members in your mailing list (you can photo copy or have the kids make several copies).
2 – You and your kids make Valentine’s Day cards for the members in your mailing group. You can send one per family or one per kid in the family. You can have home made or those standard ones sold at a store near you :
3 – You mail the Valentine’s Day cards and one of your “geography lessons” to each family on your mailing list.
4 – When the mail comes in you and your family can have fun with the Valentine’s and finding the places on the map / learning about the area based on the item sent in the mail.
So – If you are interested I just need you to sign up no later than 1/28 (and the sooner the better). I will make groups of 8-12 families (depending on how many people are interested) and email the mailing lists to only those in the mailing group. I will e-mail the lists by 2/1 to allow folks enough time to put their items together. If you would like to sign up please EMAIL me the mailing address and the names of your children. Please use my email address since the PM is not working on this forum. My email address (all one word – but split up to allow it to show up): phoebe 112476 at yahoo dot com
I am getting ready to make the address list for this Valentine exchange. We really had fun with it last time we did it and my kids love getting “real” mail. Any other families want to participate? Please let me know ASAP and I will try to get the address list out in the next few days.
