Using the SCMO with a variety of resources vs. a list of book resources only for a subject

I’m thinking about a few other posts on here recently regarding the CMO.  I’m so new to it and not yet sure if I can take the plunge, but I’d like to know what others think too.  I’m not sure this will always work.  Or if it makes sense to enter so much data in to CMO each term.  Here are my thoughts …

I think it works to simply write your “plan” under the division description area that would normally just hold book chapter titles.  That way it will show on your daily plan.  I can’t tell if you can make it show on the reports, but I was more interested in the daily plan page looking complete so that I didn’t have to write out those lessons and then just have the CMO say “complete lesson” …  Here is what I  made up to test this theory

    1. Creat a resource and name it, example “Physics Introduction Term 1”
    2. Skip most of the data on the resource page since you are not sharing the resource (but I think it’d be fun if this worked to share them)
    3. Choose a way of dividing it example “lessons”
    4. Next to the individual lessons type out your plans for that lesson example “Watch video on motion at blank. Narrate by re-creation/experiment. Read chapter 2 in Physics is Great and write your narration.”  I can’t tell exactly how many characters you can use here?  But it seems like enough.

Then continue to do this for each “lesson” in the term.  It would (I think) show on your daily page so that all the details for the lesson would be there for you and the student.  I think you could print the day that way.

An alternative would be to do just as I’ve said with all the extras and odd balls of your lesson plan, but to go ahead and schedule your book as you would any resource but choose “use with” and have it paired with this too.  You can (I think) use only certain chapters of a book if you set the resource up to show that that is all you will be using.  This might make the list of books used show on the reports?  Not sure.

The notes section would record anything you/student did differently or added to that lesson.  Again, I’m not sure how many characters you could have in that section.

Someone has probably already figured this out or posted it!  LOL.

    Yes, this would work

Claire, I just input some full lesson plans from Outdoor Secrets Companion. To test this. In the bookbinder, I was able to input the full text of a lesson including the checklist. However, in the daily plan, it was truncated partway through. Therefore, if you’re going to spend the time to do this, I would make sure the lesson info is relatively short.

Yes, I did see that too Christie.  Thanks Suzukimom.

It’s funny but I think I’ll still spend the time to write our plans on paper and pencil.  The CMO will take the place of my writing them a second time on a daily to do sheet.  That’s what I’d wanted a system to do for me – create that daily assignement list from all the separate plans I’d made for the term or year.  So, all that said I think this combo might be a winner, winner chicken dinner!!  Laughing
