We are just starting Outdoor Secrets in a couple of months.  What do I do with all the other nature story books that aren’t a part of the curric?  When/how do you fit them in so randomly?  Do you still try to read them or do they just eventually have their time and place?  For example, we just found the Smithsonian Institute’s series on a variety of topics and they are great short stories but I don’t know where to fit them in while already doing a science/nature curric.
    Thanks for your feedback

    Some ideas:

~Fit them in with the topic you are reading

~Let them be free reading picks when you are reading to the younger ones

~Schedule your read-alouds (like a 15 minute daily picture book reading type thing) to include a day or two a week with these other science topics  (one of these types of books only takes 3-5 minutes to read-aloud generally)

~They can be free reads in a reading basket
