    AG will still be recommended for those who want to include sentence diagramming. ULW3 sentence analysis uses a simplified system, different from diagramming.

    If a student really loves grammar and wants to dig deep, you could do both AG and ULW3. Otherwise, one should be sufficient.

    What if a child who is entering the 7th grade hasnt used ULW yet, would you start at book 2?

    Placement will depend on whether the student has studied parts of speech. If he can parse the italicized words in the following sentence, he should be ready to start with ULW3:

    Each of us has in his possession an exceedingly good servant or a very bad master, known as Habit.

    If he is is not familiar with parts of speech or parsing, start with ULW2.
