Using Language Well Book 3 is written and is in the publishing process. We don’t have a release date yet, but we hope to have it available to buy sometime this year.

    Karen,

I am really struggling with my dd13. we havent done any formal writing and she has used QUeens for LA. what is your suggestion? i really dont like all the diagramming that these programs use. Its so confusing to them. I want her to learn to write and spell better. We currently are using Spelling power and Spelling wisdom.

Hi, Jill. Sorry for the delay; I’ve been traveling all day. Using Language Well, Book 3, will focus on analyzing sentences but without diagramming them. The lessons will use a simplified marking system. However, if your daughter has already been diagramming sentences, she may not need to go over how to analyze them again.

The best way for her to learn to write and spell better is to read good living books written by excellent authors, to produce regular written narrations of her own, and to do prepared dictation to continue to improve in her spelling skills. She is getting close to the age when she might do some formal composition lessons, but her written narrations will be the basis for those lessons. The ULW teacher guide contains rubrics to help you evaluate her written narrations and track her progress in that skill. This article on Narration and Composition in the High School Years might also be helpful.
