Out of curiosity, do any of you teach vacation Bible school or Good News Clubs or Awana or any other Bible-based club and use a CM style?

No one else I know does, and I’d like to start.  The last two weeks, I’ve asked the children to narrate back to me the Bible story that was told.  Since we have 9-12 children, I limited them to one sentence/one segment of the story.  I needed to help some of them not jump ahead in the story, since i wanted it told in order.

Does anyone have any ideas?  I can do it at home with my children, but it seems so much harder with a class.

Last year I led the VBS first graders (those who had just finished 1st). I had each group of about 8 kids for 35 minutes. Each day I would have them narrate the story from the previous days, so by Friday they were reviewing the whole week. We also had pictures in the material packet that I had them look at. Not really the best picture study material, but it got them to notice more. I also had to fit a craft into the time slot, so that was all I could do.

I would love to hear other ideas, as I’ll be helping with VBS again in just 3 months!

I’m the childrens director for our church and I try very hard to add cm where ever I can.  Lots of picture studies, real stories right out of the bible, bringing in real missionaries, journling, singing, bible memory, and nature study where every I can fit it in.
