It’s been probably 9-10 years since I’ve looked at Considering God’s Creations, but I remember at the time I wasn’t thrilled with it… so that’s the memory I have of it. 😉 I know that CGC is used quite a lot in 106 Days of Creation, so I’m wondering if anyone uses 106 Days without CGC. Do you use something different to supplement?
I looked at the sample and so I can see that 106 Days would still have some nice nature activities regardless, but would be interested what suggestions anyone has.
I found that 106 Days gave me my topics and some great books, but I loved that there are so many ways to supplement based on your interests. For example, we had a lady at church who was a retired geology professor from our local university…so when we got to the rocks and mineral sections we slowed down and added classes with her where we brought our rock collections and we classified them with expereiments etc, tours of our local geology museums and stores, when hiking to various places that had great examples of some of the things we were studying, etc. I did not choose to use that portion of CGC because we were experiencing it, not just reading about it. Same thing with animals.
And yes, it can be used with 9/10 yr old! It is something that you can add other books to or use substitutes. You can make it into a deeper study if you like. We enjoyed it..but at the time my kids were 6 and 8! HTH
We won’t begin until fall, but I plan to use it without CGC for my 10yo. I have a Christian health program with a section and activity pages for the human body. I had that before this guide, so I want to use it since I spent the money on it. Therefore, we will probably not do the human body part in 106 Days….
Thanks for all the feedback! I think we will go ahead and do it.
Now…to decide between the PDF or bound book! <sigh> I really do not like having to make that decision. My shelves want me to pick the PDF version… but we shall see….
