  • In my recent technology pursuits, my son now owns a basic Kindle (so far it’s great and Internet safe!) and I’m currently on board with purchasing him a basic computer for school purposes such as typing, learning software, etc. No Internet will be necessary since it will be in his room. Our family laptop is used for online needs.

Not wanting to spend oodles, so I’m checking out used ones first. What should I know before buying a used computer? With my limited knowledge on these things, I am afraid I might buy a lemon. :0

OR, if any of you have a brand suggestion, I would love to know.

    Thanks!

In Canada, there is an organization called Computers 4 Schools, that takes used computers donated to them, and they provide them to schools.  Homeschools count.  (We have gotten free computers from them.)

Maybe they have it in the states as well?

Here is an example of the homepage – this one is for Alberta… http://www.cfsalberta.ca/
