Use "Keep it Simple" with CM Organizer?

Gang, I am SUPER new to this. My kiddos have been in private, Christian school and this fall we’ve decided to travel (in an RV) and homeschool our 4th and 1st grader. I’m nervous just thinking about it but I’m also really, truly excited. I have so many questions but know I really need to order my books so I can prepare! Do I need to use the CM Organizer (which thrills me to the bones; I’m pretty OCD and always appreciate a good plan) if I’m going to use the “Keep It Simple” curriculum? Is that just redundant since the “Simple” series just uses one lesson from each book per day? Do I need both the organizer and those “Simple” books?

Would appreciate any feedback/advice at all. Thank you so much!

Hi and welcome Lisa! 🙂 Your RVing plans sound exciting. I love camping. I hope y’all have a wonderful time!

As far as the CM organizer goes, it is not a necessity but a tool to help those who want an online planner that fits well with CM methods. It is completely separate from the Keep it Simple plans which lead you step by step through CM methods and work hand in hand with many other SCM resources.

Hope that helps! 🙂 Best wishes for your first year homeschooling!

Thank you, Melanie! So you’re saying if I use the “Simple” series, I do NOT also need the Organizer? Just clarifying. I just don’t know if I need to use both since the “Simple” series is pretty straightforward as far as planning goes. The Organizer seems more geared toward those who are making up their own curriculum, not following the “Simple” guides. Thanks again.

The CM Organizer is both a planning tool and a record-keeper. With Keep It Simple, all the planning is already done for you, but the Organizer can also keep your records of completed work and give you a report for the end of the year if you need that to meet legal requirements in your state. But if you don’t need a record-keeper, you should be fine with just the Keep It Simple books.

Ok, all of this makes sense to me. I appreciate both of you answering me! I know what I need to do now.

Thank you! I’ve been stalking these forums for weeks now, taking notes, watching all the videos, etc.  🙂 It feels good to jump in and get going for real. Our family is ready for the RV adventure and also a new approach to education. So many changes in our lives but we know our Savior’s got this. I appreciate the warm welcome here.
