We survived our first ever semester of homeschooling!! WHOO-HOO! Kelsey turned 9 in November and had a roller skating party at a local rink. She and 3 my nephews have made countless messes in my kitchen with cooking and science experiments. We’ve read like crazy, and she’s even beginning to read for fun, something I would’ve called impossible a year ago. She’s learned to work independently for 20-30 minutes at a time. We’re tolerating math (MUS Beta)…while it’s still not a favorite for either of us, she’s really understanding it and that’s what counts. Most importantly, she’s way less stressed out than she was in public school. She has time to learn how to train the puppy, play outside, help with chruch service projects, mess around with dance and yoga videos, and just act like a kid. I’m blessed to be able to work from home right now and teach her. She’s getting used to wearing her new hearing aids, and improving leaps and bounds in speech therapy.
It’s not perfect, and we defiently have our moments of struggle and fights and difficulty. But way less than we would’ve if she was still in school. We took 3 weeks off for the holidays and then Kelsey got bronchitis, so Monday will be our first offical day of the holidays. Can’t wait to see what God has planned for us this semester. 🙂
