Hi there! So, have you been homeschooling and they are resistant? Or have you just pulled them out of school and are researching philosophies? Sorry for needing the backstory, but I am kind of new to this forum :).
I think true unschooling is unbiblical. But in practice there is a wide variety in people who call themselves unschoolers. If I coudln’t be CM, I think I woudl be something on the unschooling spectrum. Here are some posts I did on unschooling:
Nina, I have a 13 year old that has been that way her entire life. Nothing in school interests her. We focus a lot on fine arts with lots of classes and cooperative in the performing arts arena, something she is interested in. We have homeschooled for 6 years and it has taken me that long to get to the point where you seem to be. This year we decided to start schooling year round and doing more interest led activities. Some people may call us unschoolers but not in the true sense of the word. As an example, currently we are doing a Shakespeare Unit with art journaling. She is an artist, so all our information is being presented in the form of art journaled pages. We are reading through the play Twelfth Night and we soon watch it on dvd. During this time frame we have dropped everything else but math and her writing class. To my surprsie she is finally responding to something and she doesn’t even really like Shakespeare. My point is, sometimes we really have to think outside of the box to spark some interest. Something else that has been fun for us is reviewing educational products and serving out in the community through a youth service organization. All counted as school time. If you ever want to discuss further, personal message me and I would be happy to listen.
