Typing Instructor or Mavis??

    Hello,

    We’ve used some of the free typing programs.  Now we’re ready to purchase our own…but which one??

    Please tell me which program you use…Mavis Beacon, Typing Instructor, or other and which version.  We need something that can have multiple students at different levels…does that make sense?

    We have both. I have boys from 2nd to 7th grade. We used Mavis the 1st year and a half and switched to typing Instuctor. My children now actually ask to do typing and will do it in there free time. So I am giving a big thumbs up for Typing Instructor. Misty

    Comparing them both, Mavis Beacon is far easier imo to navigate (between lessons, games, etc) than Typing Instructor For Kids. Never used the adult version, though.  My ds11 has enjoyed both programs but is actually showing significant improvement with MB over TI, and in a much shorter time frame.  

    No free time typing here, though Wink

    Oh, and we run on Macs here, so we are using the Mavis Beacon app from the Apple Store.  It’s fabulous!  You can add at least 4 users that I am aware of.

    Thanks for giving the info on the computer you use.  Having a Mac I find that some things that work for PCs just don’t do well for us (or even offer a Mac version).

    We have mac computers and use Typing Instructor Platinum. It works, dd is doing well with it.

    We have Typing Instructor Deluxe, and have enjoyed success with it.  I hear it is much better than the kids version. 

    It is working well with both beginners and more experienced typists, and is easy to navigate.

    We haven’t tried Mavis Beacon, though.

    yes, ours in the adult version, too. I can’t speak to the kids’ version.
