  • Has anyone read this book? Thoughts? Any concerns about a 10yo reading it on her own? I know the title, but have never read it. Thanks!

We listened to it as an audio book and I thought it was fine. I think it would be appropriate for a 10yo.

I have only seen the movie, so perhaps the book isn’t the same (please correct me if I’m wrong), but for what it’s worth, I’m not comfortable with books and movies that romanticize stockholm syndrome. This is something I’m personally sensitive to, and I’m not comfortable with anything where someone is kidnapped and held, yet falls in love with their captor. Others might not feel as strongly as me, as I know this is a well loved book.

I think the movie must be different. Though they do keep the girl, the book is really about immortality and I don’t remember the love story being a big deal.
