Hi, I am new here. I use Heart of Dakota, but have recently been searching for more open options using the cm method. I don’t like the user guide w/ HOD because I don’t feel like I’m as actively involved with my dc as I need to be in choosing what they’re going to learn about. I am a bit nervous about stepping out without a user guide. What helps can you recommend as I plan for a 4th grader and 1st grader for next school year?
My first recommendation is to buy the “Planning your CM Education”. It is great!
If you need a bit more hand-holding, after that, there is a free curriculum guide here (have you found it yet?) or Ambleside Online is good. Another good site is Milestones Academy.
Is that what you were asking for?
btw – for Math I use MEP math, and handwriting I use Peterson Directed Handwriting. I love both of those! MEP is free, and Peterson is inexpensive and (if you buy the pdf version and print your own sheets) reusable.
That is what I was asking. Thank you so much! This has been on my heart for some time and looking forward to next year, I calculated almost $550.00 for HOD 4th grade curriculum. My husband said “no way”…so I thanked the Lord for confirmation to move on and I am trusting him to guide me. Thanks for the free math recommendation! This just keeps getting better and better!
Glad it helped. I can give more info on any of those if you want. btw – MEP has a yahoo group for homeschoolers you will want to join. I’ve been using a combo of AO and Milestones Academy – although I always check out here for good ideas too, and I love the organizer.
