Which one would be better and why? He’s already listened to Robinson Crusoe on librivox audio. Thanks, Rachel July 19, 2011 at 11:37 pm BookwormParticipantIMO Treasure Island is MUCH much easier to read. I find the dialogue in CC very, very difficult. The first couple times I read it I had no idea at all what the ship people were even saying. I have a wonderful old used copy of TI that has Wyeth illustrations. So for what age do you think CC would be suited?Rachel July 20, 2011 at 12:28 am BookwormParticipantOlder than me. No, just kidding. A teen or mature pre-teen who has the patience to trudge through the dialogue. July 20, 2011 at 9:59 pm Rachel WhiteParticipant I’ll shelve CC for now then! Sounds like that one would be a good one to listen to on audio to hear someone else do the proper pronunciation first.Rachel July 20, 2011 at 10:03 pm HeidiSParticipantI read Captains Courageous out loud with my then 13 year old. We also watched the old (1936 i think) movie with Spencer Tracy. We both enjoyed the book, but it did take time to get through it. I wouldn’t recommend it for a read alone for an 11 yo ..good choice.
