Should I start ds8 with copywork as usual or have him practice the alphabet one letter at a time first?

    Thanks,

I would do copywork as usual and see how he does. Then if he needs to take it slower you can always do that.

Actually, that’s what I did. It took him two weeks to work through his name, address, phone number, and 4H club name. (We’re transitioning because he’ll have to write on notebook paper or write smaller on unlined paper for 4H work). Today I wrote a line of upper and lower case A’s for him to copy. He did OK, but toward the end (there were six sets), the lowercase was as big as the uppercase.

If it would help, the Hymns in Prose copybooks are designed to help the student gradually move to notebook paper size writing.
