I am looking at the Trail Guide to US Geography to use next year with my girls.  They will be 3rd and 5th grade.  When I looked at the samples of the student notebook, the primary level (2nd – 4th) and the intermediate level (5th-7th) looked the same.  Have any of you looked at these?  Are they the same the whole way through?  Could I just buy one or do I need both levels?

I wouldn’t suggest buying both levels. You could adjust the older level. There isn’t much of a difference. Just additional work which could be deleted. We did Trail Guide this year for a bit. It was easy to adjust. Lots of extra “busy” work that we didn’t want to do.

Thanks, stephw2.  I don’t necessarily want to add busy work, but I did like the idea of things ready for me to grab and go.  Telling what to add to their state map and how to find things in the atlas.  I am planning to use TruthQuest American History for Young Students I this year.  TQ has American history spread over 3 years, so I thought I’d spread the US geography over 3 years also.  I think it won’t seem so busy to add in the different things with the geography when we won’t have to do it every day.  But, maybe I’m wrong.
