Within the past 6 months, God has revealed to me that I have been a self-deceived Christian for the past 11+ years and that I lost my opportunity to be saved.  It has been a very difficult thing to go through.  I can’t get anyone to understand.  At this point I’m sad, lonely, angry, and lack direction.  I am only 33.  We had a beautiful life during that time I was self-deceived, including homeschooling.  I have a beautiful family.  I’ve lost everything.  Please pray for my family.  My heart is broken.

I am not sure of your specific situation, but I am very concerned for you, as you sound extremely depressed. Looking back on previous posts, this is a long term issue. Do you have a source of Christian counselling? You say that you have lost your opportunity to be saved, but this is not Biblical. Is this a teaching of your church?
I hope you will seek help – in the meanwhile I will pray for you and your family. If you need to share more privately I am willing to listen.

Please, please, take heart! You *never* lose your opportunity to be saved. God’s mercies are new every morning and He is always ready to hear your confession and welcome you with outpourings of grace and mercy. He knows your name, knows your heart, knows your situation, and He will never leave you or forsake you. As Butterflylake said, this is not a Biblical teaching. Even when we are self-deceived, God is never deceived and will be your source of truth, clarity, wisdom, and love. Praying for you and hoping others will respond with more encouragement and hope for you.

Hi thanks so much for the kindness and encouragement.   Yes, this depression is a long-term issue.  I finally figured out the source.  God started drawing me to Him around 2004, He asked me to lay down a relationship I was in but I didn’t, I married the person… Failing to yield to Christ’s Lordship and become a true disciple.  Back then I even had thoughts that I would go to hell if I married the person.  I think those thoughts were from God.  Why I ignored them is beyond me!  I went 11+ years with false assurance.  Now when I read the Bible I cannot find redemption, forgiveness, or anything.  It seems all the condemning verses apply to me.  Losing your opportunity to be saved is biblical and I became aware of it through John MacArthur’s book “Saved Without a Doubt”.  Unfortunately, I am Unsaved Without a Doubt.  At this point if I could be saved, I would be the most on-fire Christian.

I hope this doesn’t come across as condescending, it’s certainly not meant to.  I looked through several of your old forum posts, and have gathered that you’ve struggled for quite while.  There were some posts from 2014 and earlier of struggles.  Please get help.  Please reach out.  Please call a crisis center and talk to someone.  I don’t feel like right now you need Bible verses in your face, I think you need professional help.

Kelley – not condescending at all.   I’m working on the professional help.  It’s just that it won’t really help if I can’t be saved…

When God reveals our disobedience or ways we have been deceived He does so to lead us back to Himself and His full love and saving grace. He wants you to be restored to Him, and to complete health. Satan has been telling you lies for many years. I am not familiar with John MacArthur’s book, but we need to stick to the Bible. God wants you to know forgiveness. Satan wants you to believe your past is your future.
Did you see the movie WarRoom? There is a scene where the main character tells Satan to get out of her house, and escorts him out the door. Powerful.
It excites me that you say if you could be saved you would be the most on-fire Christian! God may be preparing you to be just that!! Again, find a Christian woman who can disciple you, who will walk with you and invest in you. Someone you can be completely honest with.
    Praying…

Unfortunately, I put a hand to the plow and looked back (to perdition?) Luke 9:62… and didn’t forsake all to follow Jesus.  If only God could forgive those things…??

My heart breaks for you.  I’ve been where you are now. I too married a man I knew I shouldn’t and have had to live with the sin of that choice.  God is a forgiving God when we humble ourselves to ask for forgiveness.  The Bible is full of examples of people who God has redeemed.  As long as you draw breath it is never too late to become a child of God.  Do not allow Satan to twist scripture or rely on mans teaching. Satan doesn’t want any of us to find forgiveness for the choices we make.  I truly believe God is opening your eyes so that you may come to His open arms.  Only God’s word is truth when scripture is compared with scripture.  I will keep you in my prayers.

HSMomof3-Satan is lying to you. You must make the choice to listen to the Lord through His word and to ask Him to rebuke Satan on your behalf. Salvation is a free gift-it is about what Christ has done not what you have or have not done. If you want to accept His sacrifice on your behalf, then do so. God has promised to make each of us a new creation when we accept Him as Lord and Savior.

Many people doubt their salvation at various points in life. Commit your life to Him and ask Him to give you assurance of your salvation and live your life for Him from today forward. It’s not about what you did or didn’t do in your past. It’s about the choice you make today.

Many of us have made horrible choices in our past lives. I’m so glad that God has taken my sin, covered it in the blood of Christ, and cast it as far away as the east is from the west. He can and will do the same for all who turn to Him for salvation.

Don’t listen to the enemy. Listen to the Lord. Seek him in His word and trust Him to keep His word.

    I am praying for you.

    Hugs and love,

    Melanie
