Several months ago there was a post about toothpaste.  Someone had posted a recipe for toothpaste that they were making that had even helped cavities get better and gums regenerate.  I do remember that it was a recipe with xylitol.  I have searched on here and found some threads about teeth and toothpaste but not the one I am looking for.  I was hoping whoever it was would be willing to share the recipe again or maybe someone remembers who it was and I can pm them.

    Thanks

This isn’t the same one because the one posted on here the xylitol wasn’t optional.  But, this looks good and I am bookmarking it this time so I can find it again!!  Thanks for the link.

I had started that tread, it was “toothpaste troubleshooting” I believe and it seems to have vanish, I was looking for it the other day as well.

I am having such a hard time w/making my toothpaste lately. So far I have been experimenting, adding this or that until it comes out the right taste and consistency.

I just made the one from Wellness mama w/Xylotol, it was too hard, added the castile soap and still not right.

I think it might have been me.  We have had teeth regenerate with my recipe.  Here it is: (I don’t measure so it’s all approximate.  Anytime I try to change it we don’t like it…)

    Homemade toothpaste:
    5 pellets cal carb (opt)
    2 T. baking soda
    3 T. xylitol
    2 Tablets vit. k (opt)

I blend these in my vitamix. Then I add:

3-5 T. coconut oil (I only use Wilderness Family brand) and about
    25-40 drops of essential oil
(if we aren’t using homeopathics I will use peppermint oil. Otherwise I use orange and/or lemon oil. You can add more xylitol if you think it needs to be sweet.)

We put it in a canning jar and use the little tester spoons to get it out. I bought about 100 from the local ice cream store and I rewash them.

Thanks, pollysoup.  I think that is what I was looking for.  What is cal carb?  Calcium Carbonate, maybe?  Where do you get it?

    Thank you, again!

pollysoup what is the vit K for?

The vitamin K helps the calcium to be absorbed by the teeth.  Here is information about the cal carb:

Calc carb works quite well as a homeopathic remedy for children going through rather painful teething. It may help with sore gums and for an impaired development of teeth. It can also help with any sort of dental decay that an individual may suffer from.

    I usually don’t use it.  🙂

I’m a happy customer of Rose of Sharon Acres. (roseofsharonacres.com)  They have fabulous tooth soap spritz.  It seems spendy, but the $24.95 spritz lasted us 7 months (to the day! – I wrote down the open and empty dates).  That was for my husband and I, and occasionally our four daughters.  My husband likes two drops, I like one drop (the directions say two drops, but that’s too much suds/foam for me!).

Anyway, I”m sold on it.  I think it’s well-worth the money. You can order it with or without xylitol.  They also have children’s flavors.  Mine (except one girl) like the cherry flavor.  The other daughter likes the mint I guy for my husband and I.
