I hate to say it, but I have too many books. I don’t have space to put them all, I don’t have space to store them. I live in a rental and can’t just build shelving on the walls. I want to buy more books. Maybe I should tell my hubby to ask for a raise so we can get a bigger house for my books. =)
l had to laugh when I saw the title of your post. I am trying to let go of some books, but still keep buying the treasures I find at used prices I cannot pass up. I have found ways to store them better…having tall bookshelves to utilize the space efficiently, buying on craigslist good solid wood pieces and put book crates on some shelves to put smaller books in two rows. We also have some file crates with picture books to flip through on the floor in various out of the way corners and places. And we have little media shelves for paperbacks in tight places. We may be moving this year and I don’t want to pack them all with us.
There is no such thing in my opinion. I waited a long time to have a “library” and now do. It is very exciting and I still have years of homeschooling ahead so many more books to add.
I do still try to find places to put baskets so books are within easy reach of little arms though.
Hahaha! I know the feeling. We are also in a rental that has less space than our last. We could only fit 3 of our 4 bookshelves in the house this time. After filling them with homeschool stuff and favorite books (mind you, I styled them a bit so that means even less space for books), I stored the rest in storage boxes in the garage organized by subject/type so that if we do need to locate one, it’s easier. We have lived here for over a year and I have only had to do that 2-3 times thus far. 🙂 All kids books are in the house. And I also have a storage bin for homeschool books and material that we have finished using, didn’t work for us or stuff we will eventually add (gotta seize the day when you come accross great used prices. Haha). I won’t part with anything until I start teaching my youngest (only 2). What didn’t work for my daughter might work great for him.
Wing2fly… Horrors!!! You wouldn’t actually leave them behind!!!?
We just moved across several states and left a lot of furniture and other things behind…but not my books!!! They all got boxed carefully by time period/subject and current books are in rental house on shelves in dining room…rest in boxes in the garage. I see a trend here…at least I’m in good company! Bibliophiles? Maybe… We all sleep on the floor now ( sort of), but We Have BOOKS!
