I have two to share from ds4. He asked me for a “trail mick” today. Not sure what that is? It’s the singular form of “trail mix” to be used when he wants only a “wittle” bit. This ds also just got an ipod nano and player dock (He got this at 4, to avoid him breaking his neck getting his brother’s from the top bunk. I’m picking my battles and decided it was a good use of his savings.) When asked his favorite song, he promptly replied, “God bless you merry gentlemen” aka “God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen”.
Love these things. Old favorites:
DD13 used to call french fries – pinch pies. DS9 asked if he needed his independix out once. He also said snocks and sneakers for the longest. DD6 doesn’t have many because she spoke so clearly always.

My elder DS, around 3, for cantaloupe, said “lopelope”. And for umbrella, said rainbrella, which made perfect sense to me. 🙂

We keep a little journal noting the funny sayings over the years.
DS6 used to say chench chies for french fries, catty for cat/kitty
DD2.5 says pooth-taste for toothpaste, shmarshmallows for marshmallows
I can’t wait to read other posts for a good laugh!

Oh I forgot. Yesterday we ate dinner with my in laws and in celebration of dd13’s bday, they had a store bought chocolate meringue pie. When ds4 was eating, he said it tasted like mushroom. Confused, I asked what did. He pointed to the topping which didn’t look like meringue. I said, “does it taste like marshmallow?” He said, yeah, that’s it!
Some days I find these things extra sweet!

well all winter long my just turned 2 yo ds has been calling his boots “poop” “poop, mamma, Poop!!” it took us a little while to figure that one out. and it still cracks me up. he ask to wear his boots all the time…..
and just today i wrote this down in our little book of sayings…all 3 children were sitting around playing church and “saying verses”…my dd4 quoted this one ” The Lord Jesus loves us always, interrupting not allowed!” Proverbs 49
my dd4 and dd5 like to pretend play “Toledo” storm (tornado storm)…..we happened to be visiting in Toledo just before a big tornado warning thunderstorm this past autumn and somehow the two got connected.

I’m sleepy this afternoon. I can only think of one at the moment. Our now 14yos answered “I welcome” to any thank yous he received when he was little.

To this day my kids call healthy food “help-fy” food. Being comfortable is “crunchtable”. And footie jammies are “duckers”. And that game you play where the floor is lava and you can’t step on it…hot balaba. I’m pretty sure they know how to spell and say the actual words, they just think it’s funny that they have their own made-up words so they still use them.

My son called skunks “stunks” until he was five :-). It was cute (and descriptive!) so I wouldn’t let anyone correct him. He is my last baby, and I know now how quickly all those cute-isms go away!

We eat ‘fes-us’ every morning (breakfast) and wear ‘pittens’ on our hands when it’s cold. We put all our presents under the ‘massa tee’ this year. The little ones in the house these days are almost 3 and finally learning to talk. Their mom (I’m their childcare provider) was getting worried. My older kids think it is hilarious to talk toddler all day long.

Christie, is ds4 now saying “wittle” instead of “wibble bit”? Ever since I came home from FL and told my family about your ds4, they all say “wibble bit”!
My dd used to speak with the cutest lisp. All “s” words sounded extra cute with her lisp. Instead of ‘mustard’, she used to say ‘lizard’ with her lisp! So adorable!
My ds got his f’s and th’s mixed up when he was about 3. He didn’t have fingers and thumbs; he had thingers and fumbs! Until he was four, he said a lot of words that started with the m-sound with the n-sound instead. So milk was nilk; Mickey Mouse was Nickey Nouse.

When my daughter was younger, she would add a “la” to the end of every word that was a syllable (sp??)long. Our favorite thing she would say was “Ohla nola! I got Mudla on my Bootsla!” She also couldn’t say her brother’s name (Nathaniel) and would call him No-No.

My ds that will be 3 in a month can’t say “pl” or “str” so he says clay instead of play. And “I’m scrong!” Instead of I’m strong. My dd 4.5 still has a hard time with feather. She says fedder.
