This is in addition to my previous post on timelines, but more specific. For those of you who use timelines in a notebook format. Have any of you used the Sonlight notebook, or the Wonders of Old? Or do you like the Book of Centuries from this website?
Well. I have one Sonlight notebook but that one never took off here. There are several very nice professionally done notebooks, like Wonders of Old or the one homeschoolinthewoods sells. They are beautiful! But I wanted a notebook for each child, and it was simply out of my budget.
I personally would try the Book of Centuries pages or other freebie pages to make your own (you can use a binder or get it spiral bound if you want) or if you are really short of time, this company makes a nice INEXPENSIVE one:
We use Wonders of Old and just love it. It is a beautiful hard bound book and we all share the same one as a family. Sometimes we add time line figures -getting only the ones we need for that time period from Sonlight (they sell the beautiful homeschooling in the woods figures) or the kids illustrate their own. What I like about Wonders of Old is that it is broken up in historical time periods and in each period there is an index listing the events/key persons and dates for you. This way I don’t have to do all kinds of searching to find dates. The only down fall I find with Wonders of Old is that it is hard bound and so it’s not easy to lay open flat. We bought ours for 29.99 so it might get expensive if you want to do one for each child. We like having one for the whole family to share – they take turns adding characters or illustrations. Anyway, we love it. Hope this helps.
In His Saving Grace,
Heather
