I’m plotting and planning for next school year, gathering a list of all my resources and books. We’re going to stick pretty close to SCM’s suggestions and go with all of the number 1 modules where available for a year 1 student and younger sibling. What I’m wondering is how much time do I need to plan on spending on getting it all into CM Organizer. I’m fairly computer savvy, so shouldn’t have to spend tons of time learning the program, what I want to know is do I need to set aside hours, days, weeks to get started initially? Your past experience would be great appreciated.

    Thanks,

Rebekah, the longest part for me is always the planning. I set aside a couple of weeks last summer, took my tentative book lists, made schedules, and then inputted the information. The inputting part only took me a couple of days, but could be quicker if you use mostly books that are already in the Organizer–I had to add several of my own, some with many chapters. It might take you a lot less time–I have three children in three different ages and had to get everything to work together.

I of course didn’t work on it all day, as I had other things happening.

If you get the basics down on paper first and know what you want to do, the actual inputting goes pretty fast. It’ll go smoothly if you take care of all the decisions like “How many days a week do I want to read this?” and “Do I want to read these at the same time or consecutively?” and that sort of thing taken care of first.
