Has anyone used a wall timeline for the SCM history modules? If so what figures did you use?

So, I guess no one does a wall time line? 😉

I made a “stairway of history” as recommended by Childs History of the World….

but I’m not doing the SCM modules…

We used The Big Picture Bible Timeline per suggestion of the SCM History Module 2. My girls are 8, 6, and 3 so perfect for their age. They loved coloring a new timeline or two each week. I plan to keep it up and we’ll add to it during Module 3 this fall. I like the looks of (I think it’s called) Homeschool in the Woods for future history timelines but so expensive. If I do purchase it, I’ll start my girls on a timeline notebook to keep forever.

We use the “mark-it timeline of history” from Geography Matters but, though I have wanted to get some, do not use timeline figures with it. It seems to me that they are all to big for this chart. I am thinking of possibly making a list of all the events and people that we would like figures/pictures for and then, as a fun family summer project, making them ourselves in a more suitable size. We could look at pictures of the people/events online and then try to draw them ourselves onto cardstock, color them, maybe include some caption or small detail at the bottom and then cut them out and put them up over the summer. I thought it may be a good way to review some of what we learned throughout the year. And it would look cooler than little stick-its!

Sorry I can’t be of more help,

We have a large wall timeline.  But we have not done the SCM history modules yet.  We just do a figure for whomever is “important” that we are studying.  Do what works best for your family.  We even add artists and composers.  I limit size to 1/2 of a 3 X 5 notecard we cut in half.  Sometimes I’ll print an image online and paste to the small notecard for my youngest to color.  My older child usually draws it.  They take turns with each figure.  Read more here: http://simplycharlottemason.com/scmforum/topic/timelines

We do use the Homeschool in the Woods figures, but in a book, not on the wall.  I’m sure it would work just fine on the wall, though.  We like the figures, though they are a bit pricey – I figure for eight kids it works our pretty cheap per child, though   🙂

I think we will be continuing our “homemade” time line. The Homeschool in the Woods figures look great, but I can’t pay that right now.

    Thanks all!
