Erin.kate, I am in love with these bios! So far we have read “Ink on His Fingers” and “The Man Who Laid the Egg.” I was amazed at the ideas that poured forth in the exam narrations from our then 10-year-old and 8-year-old regarding the controversy in printing the Bible and the complexity of the Reformation. Personally, I learned more from these two books than I had in any of my university classes regarding these subjects. We didn’t have time for “Night Preacher” in our school year but we look forward to reading more of Ms. Vernon’s books.
We’ve enjoyed all of Vernon’s books. Some I read aloud, some my oldest read on her own. I stalked Ebay and other used book sites until I found them at prices we could afford.
We are planning to read them next year. I found good prices for new at libraryanded.com for $5.40 each or all 10 for $53. And I waited until there was a sale going on for free shipping or free books too.
I think we have read them all. Wonderful books. Good for read alouds and really give perspective to the time period and the controveries going on at that time.
