Hi Everyone:
I have been reading over at CM Help, the way Linda does her History by using both This Country of Oursby HE Marshall and The Child’s History of the World, by Hillyer. Her ideas in using both books and doing AM History and World History is very insightful. My
question is: After researching This County of Ours, I am not seeing an age range for this book. I do have the 3 part series, For the Light and the Glory, From Sea to Shining Sea (ect) that is also by HE Miller, and I am wondering if anyone knows the difference between the 3 part series and the big book Linda is recommending>? I am assuming the bigger book is for older grades? Can anyone speak to either of these by HE Marshall?
In addition, for any of you who have used Hillyer’s book, did you just use the book? I see there is a teacher book and activity book in addition to the read aloud book?
I have been using This Country of Ours for roughly years 1-5 (not much in year 1) for the past couple of years. My kids and I both LOVE it. We use it on a weekly basis – about one chapter per week.
We do SCM history modules and just use TCOO as a little sprinkling of American history. We did also add in, this year, Linda’s idea for a simple timeline of world history. We use the Book of Centuries prompts in the SCM History Modules books.
