"The Read-Aloud Handbook" by Jim Trelease.

I, too, love it.  If you can see them at  your library, it’s sometimes fun to look at his older editions.  There are books that don’t get included anymore b/c of space limitations.  What comes to mind is his list of “Wordless Picture Books”; newer versions don’t have near as many as some of the older ones, and you may miss some gems there.  (I photocopied the list from another friend’s older copy, and tucked it into mine.)
