I just got this from PBswap – it is full of wonderful illustrations and outdoor nature activities, handicrafts, etc…check it out if you can find it at your library!

    So far, I’ve looked at:

    Pressing flowers

    Making a hammock

    Whittling

    Sparking a fire

    Locating Constellations

    Building a bathouse

    Building an Ant Farm

    Beading

    Homemade Fabric Dye

    Plant weaving

    Knots

    Making a WaterScope

    Making a Fruit Dryer

It’s very visual, so the kids can walk through it pretty independently.

    Locating Constellations

Hm – although my son loves Astonomy, we wouldn’t be doing that during the summer…. it doesn’t get dark enough now until 11:00 or so at night!

What age range is this book aimed at?

I tried to locate this book at our library, which has numerous branches for inter-library loans. Is this the actual title? ( the kids summer handbook). I will try it again though & see what comes up. Thanks for sharing!

It is called “The Kids Summer Handbook” by Jane Drake & Ann Love.  I just ordered it from my library.
