OK, this is a long shot, but here is what I need.  Does anyone know of a book that:

My high schooler can read, that is at least high school level or above

Covering Renaissance and Reformation through Early Modern period

That is not from Foster or Guerber (already read) or Famous Men (want more than just short bios)

    That is readable AND

    Doesn’t cost too much???

I have several good booklength biographies for him that he hasn’t read yet, but no “tying-together” book.

We have Renaissance and Reformation Times by Dorothy Mills.  It is a decent read.  I picked it up cheap from AbeBooks.

Though I haven’t seen it,  Basic History of the United States: Volume 1 & 2, by Clarence Carson (Gr. 12+)  might be worth looking at.  It is cited as an optional spine for Truthquest’s Age of Revolution 1  (US/Europe 1600-1800).  Often the books recommended there are good.  I found them on Exodus Books website for $12 and $14 (though they’re not actually in stock at the moment); scroll down until you see them:

There’s also a bit of information on them.
