My history curriculum – right choice?

My husband finally chose our history curriculum for this year and he chose The Good and the Beautiful by Jenny Philips.  Cathy Duffy says it is “Charlotte Mason, eclectic.”  Please tell me we’re making the right choice!  I have a 5th, 3rd, 1st grader and preschooler.  We should be able to complete the 4-year rotation before my oldest hits high school which is a positive.  However, it covers World and US history each year without a continuous timeline so we’ll probably use something else for high school.  The other thing is, we are coming from My Father’s World and I am sad that my kids will miss Exploring Countries and Cultures as well as some other books that My Father’s World uses.  Otherwise, we are planning on CM for everything else.
